Description/ Mission:
The Green Team is made up of students and faculty members who actively maintain the school’s first recycling program. Our goal is to educate the Vandebilt family and the community about the importance of recycling both at school and at home. Blue recycling bins are located in every classroom and all around the Vandebilt campus. The Green Team hopes to expand its recycling efforts every year to include more athletic events and more bins around campus.
Recycling takes place every Wednesday where members gather the many bags of paper, plastic bottles, and cardboard to bring to the large recycling bin on campus that is emptied once a month by Progressive Waste Solutions. The maintenance staff has reported a reduction in the amount of trash collected on campus since the start of the program 4 years ago.
Please help our recycling efforts when on campus or in attendance at athletic events by recycling your paper, plastic bottles, cans, and cardboard. Large recycling bins are available for community use throughout Terrebonne parish to help your recycling efforts at home as well.
The Green Team will be selling reusable water bottles throughout the year. The bottles are $10 and can be purchased in the guidance department.
