Renovations to facilities associated with our baseball program is broken down into five phases.
1. The Field and Fence - (Currently under construction)
Phase 1 includes a new outfield wall, new home dugout, renovated visitor dugout, improved drainage of the entire field, new sod infield, new grass in the outfield, new backstop, new place plastic fencing, new warning track, and repainting existing bleachers. The cost is $136,000 and full funding for the project is in hand with donations from individuals and the Terrier Club. The field will remain in its current location and acclamation. There was discussion to "Flip" the field but that plan was scrapped because of cost.
2. New Field House - (Construction begins Summer of 2018)
Designs for the new baseball field house are being finalized at this time. The field house will include locker rooms, a coaches office, storage, an athletic trainer room, batting cages, pitching areas, team restrooms, and showers. The estimated cost is approximately $325,000. $275,000 has been donated to the project. Construction will begin in the Summer of 2018. The field house will be completed when the funds are available. We are currently seeking donations at this time.
3. Public Restrooms / Concession Stand - (Construction begins Summer of 2018)
Phase 3 is the construction of a structure to hose a concession stand and public restrooms that will be used for baseball and events held in Buddy Marcello Stadium. The estimated cost of Phase 3 is $90,000. We are currently seeking donations at this time.
4. New Bleachers and Press Box (Planning Stage)
Phase 4 will see erection of aluminum bleachers donated by Nicholls State and new bleachers directly behind home plate. All bleachers will be elevated to 4 feet. A new press box and storage will be realized by using converted shipping containers. The cost estimate for this phase is $75,000. No money has been donated to date for this phase , but donations are currently being sought.
5. Road Access, Sidewalks, Picnic Area, and Non-field Fencing (Planning Stage)
Phase 5 includes continuing the sidewalk from softball to baseball and eventually a black wrought iron and brick fence adjacent to the sidewalk. Access to the new field house from Tunnel Blvd and a picnic area near the new concession stand are also included.
