Marching Band

The marching band is open to any student in any grade. The areas that make up the marching band are winds, percussion (both Keyboard and Battery), color guard, and dance. Percussion, dance, and color guard (flags and weapons) are determined by audition. They perform at home football games, Mardi Gras parades, competitions, and festivals, assemblies, and civic events. It is the most visible of all Vandebilt Catholic organizations. The students rehearse 3 days a week after school, and also have a 2 week summer camp to prepare their skills and competitive program. Previous experience in music is not required, as we are proud to include anyone who wants to be part of the organization. While some sections of the marching band are by audition only-- there is a place for anyone who wants to be involved.

Jazz Band

The jazz ensemble rehearses once a week in the evenings, once marching band has completed their season. It is open to all students; however, instrumentation is limited to brass, saxophones, and rhythm percussion. It is possible other instruments may be added depending on literature and instrumentation.

Concert Band

This is an introductory concert ensemble that meets as a class every day. Musicians that are at a beginning or intermediate level are placed into this class. Focus is placed on developing technique and musical fundamentals - and challenging the students as both individuals and an ensemble through literature and exercises. This ensemble performs for Christmas and Spring events, and LMEA Large Ensemble festival when instrumentation allows.

Wind Symphony Band

This is a select concert ensemble that meets as a class every day. Musicians that have proven to have advanced their skills beyond beginning and intermediate are placed into this class. They study and perform literature that is considered advanced and challenging. This ensemble performs annually for the LMEA Large Ensemble Festivals, and also for Christmas and Spring events, as well as invitational events as they occur.

Indoor Percussion is also offered.
