The purpose of the Bass Fishing Club is to promote and encourage safe youth fishing following Christ and the Bassmaster’s Creed. First, the Bass Fishing Club recognizes the opportunity to guide our anglers to fulfill Christ's calling to be Fishers of Men. Second, it is to create among our fellow anglers and the public in general, an awareness of the organization’s contributions to angling, conservation, and outdoor recreation through education, fishing ethics and techniques, sportsmanship, and conservation of our natural resources. Third, it is to encourage and instruct the youth of the community in the art of bass fishing. Lastly, it is to pledge full adherence to all conservation codes and to detect and report any polluter of our Nation’s waters.
The club organizes teams and competes in bass fishing tournaments throughout Louisiana and other states from October through May. Our tournaments are through Louisiana Youth Bass Nation, BassTactix, and other participating club tournaments in locations locally such as Doiron's Landing, Manchac, and Henderson Swamp. Additionally, we compete in out of town places such as Sabine River, Toledo Bend, Sam Rayburn, Red River, and Caney Lake. Trail locations are determined each season.
Qualifying state and national tournaments aim to provide valuable skills that foster positive attitudes, teach discipline, build self-esteem, encourage teamwork, and create everlasting relationships while competing as an individual and team amongst other junior high and high school anglers. It is also to obtain recognition for college scholarships in bass fishing for those highly successful high school anglers.
“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19
